Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil has revealed that Arsene Wenger’s future as coach of Arsenal will determine his own future in Arsenal too.
The German midfielder who has 18 months before the expiration of his contract has said he wants to certain about Wenger’s future in Arsenal before he commits himself to a new contract at the club.
In an interview with Kicker, a German football magazine, Ozil said and we quote: “I want to be clear on what Wenger is doing. I feel very, very happy at Arsenal and have shown the club that I am prepared to extend my contract. The fans want me to stay. Now it’s just down to the club. The club knows that I am, above all, here because of Arsene Wenger – who signed me and whose trust I have. The club also knows that I just want to be clear on what the manager will do.” End of quote.
Wenger signed 28 year-old Ozil from Real Madrid in 2013, the manager had previously said that Arsenal will do anything to retain Ozil and Alexis Sanchez at Emirates Stadium.
