The entertainment industry almost started on a sad note following the announcement of certain passings in the industry. The year 2022, so far has taken with it some of the finest stars in the industry.

Here are 9 entertainers we have lost so far in 2022

Tafa Oloyede

Veteran actor Tafa Oloyede born John Adewuni Adewoye, passed on 1 February 2022, at the age of 69. Oloyede debuted in the industry back in 1974 under the guidance of Oyin Adejobi. Some of his notable movies include Jaiyesimi, Ayanmo, Euro Oloja, Orogun, and Akanji Oniposi.

Romanus Amuta

Nollywood actor Romanus Amuta died on 9 February 2022 at the age of 79 years old. Best known for playing the role of Natty in the retired NTA comedy series New Masquerade. He also acted in multiple other movies to include Lion Finger in 2003, Eagles Bride in 2005 and Ijele in 1999.

Lari Williams

Nigerian actor, poet, and playwright Lari Williams passed away on 27 February 2022 at 81 after a protracted illness. Before his passing, he taught theatre arts courses at the Universities of Lagos, Lagos State, and Calabar in Nigeria.

Shade Akintalor (Oluweri Magbojo)

Popularly known as Oluweri Magbojo, Shade passed away on 1 March 2022 in the United Kingdom at 59. She acted in multiple movies before her passing. Cause of death was never revealed.

Veronica Mngohol

Actress Veronica died on 23rd March. The actress’ body was discovered in a hotel room in Makurdi, Benue State. Her death remains a mystery till date.

Chinedu Nwadike

Chinedu Nwadike was an all round entertainer who passed on 27 March 2022 after his battle with kidney failure. Some of his notable ovies include Divine Sisters and Run Away Prince.

Kunle Adetokunbo (Dejo Tunfulu)

Chinedu Bernards

Chinedu Bernards Nwankwo, was an actress and a photographer from Enugu state, Nigeria. Bernards reportedly collapsed while cleaning the chapel of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Enugu on 29 April. She was pronounced dead upon arrival at East Side Hospital in Enugu.

Francisca Choji

The actress’ body was discovered on 1 May 2022 at the Rayfield Resort in Jos, Plateau State. According to reports, the actress’ body was discovered floating on the water at Rayfield Resort.

David Osagie

Nollywood actor, screenwriter, producer, and talent manager David Osagie died at the age of 52 on 4 May 2022. The actor had reportedly concluded work on a movie set when he passed unexectedly. He was known for his role as an elder kinsman. Some of his films include The Royal Battle, My Sorrow, My Pain, Agunna, and Lost Battle.

Gbenga Richards

Iconic actor Richards Gbenga passed 12 May at the age of 60. Cause of death was never revealed. Richards was a well loved actor in and outside the globe.

Leo Mezie

Leo died on 14 May after undergoing kidney transplant surgery. The actor featured in multiple great movies before his passing. Some of his movies include, Total War, No Man’s Land, Heart of a Slave, Close Enemy, King’s Sleepless Night, and Empty Throne.

Osmond Gbadebo

Actor Osmond Gbadebo died on Monday, 30 May 2022. The actor hit the limelight with his roles in Hired Killer, Queen Lateefat, Edunjobi, and Ewon Ife, among others.

Baba Atoli

Ace Nigerian actor Baba Atoli passed after battling with an undiagnosed illness. He starred in multiple blockbuster productions like The Village Headmaster, Happy Homes, Give and Take, and Hostess.

Ada Ameh

Nollywood actress Ada Ameh died on Sunday, 17 July,. The actress was on a trip to Delta state where she reportedly slumped and died.

Onayiga Sola

Veteran Nollywood actresss Sola Onayiga passed on Monday, 18 July 2022. The actress was reportedly admitted to the ICU section of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital before her passing.

Rico Swavey

Reality TV star Patrick Adebowale Fakoya better known as Rico Swavey died from injuries sustained from a ghastly car accident. The BBNaija ex-housemate died on October 13.
