Fresh crisis rocks ruling party as APC governors forum’s DG quits over convention controversy

Salihu Lukman, director-general of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), has resigned from his position, TheCable is reporting.

His resignation is coming on the heels of the controversy surrounding the planned convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Some of the governors of the ruling party had called for his resignation during a meeting at the federal capital territory (FCT) on Sunday night.

The governors, GoldMyne TV reportedly Monday, insist that the convention must hold in February. No date has, however been fixed.

President Muhammadu Buhari has also stressed that postponing the convention could send a wrong message about the APC to the Nigerian public.

Not too long ago, Lukman lambasted the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over what it said was its disrespect to President Buhari regarding the party’s planned national convention.

But APC governors say they have full confidence in Buni and his committee.
