2023: Why I support SWAGA’s push for Tinubu’s presidency — Sanwo-Olu

Political action movement, South West Agenda (SWAGA), has urged the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to run for president in 2023.

Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his deputy Obafemi Hamzat and other top dignitaries from Nigeria converged on state capital Ikeja to launch SWAGA ‘23 on Thursday.

“Those behind the movement are the people who believe in the three values that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu personifies and are ready to push them with passion for other Nigerians to see,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The governor added that “it is important to say that Asiwaju Tinubu’s story is one of vision, passion and action. These three values stand him out among his contemporaries in national politics. He is a nationalist in thinking and a progressive in action”.

Before the event, SWAGA representative and former works minister Adeseye Ogunlewe had said that the situation of Nigeria has gone beyond what “just anybody” can handle.

“We need somebody who can think and who has paid his dues in the struggle for democracy,” the APC chieftain said.

“We are appealing to Tinubu to come out and participate to convince people that he is available to serve. We are preparing for the best candidate that will map out the structure of Nigeria for betterment. The calibre of the person must be very, very high.

“He may decide not to run but we believe that he is capable of doing the job,” Ogunlewe said.
