VIDEO: Nigerian Army performed excellently well under my command — Tukur Buratai

Former chief of army staff Lt. General Tukur Buratai (retd) has said that he led the Nigerian Army during a perilous time and was able to restore the prestige of the military institution.

Buratai, who is now the country’s ambassador to Benin Republic, made the comment after receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Global Excellence Recognition Awards in Lagos on Sunday.

The event was organised by Global Excellence Magazine, with big shots like Lagos’ Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and several others bagging awards for contributing positively to society with multiple touches of excellence.

“Under my command, the Nigerian Army performed excellently well in the fight against terrorism,” Buratai said in a speech delivered by representative Lt. Gen. Lamidi Adeosun (retd) who received the award on Buratai’s behalf.

Former army spokesperson Brig. Gen. SK Usman (retd), His Royal Majesty Oba Makama Oyelude, Olowu Of Owu-Kuta, Osun State, and other top dignitaries were part of a high-powered team that represented Buratai at the occasion.

The former military chief thanked all the military officers and soldiers at the battlefront for “stabilising Nigeria’s democracy”. He also dedicated the award to them.
