Benue’s new police commissioner promises to do well
Benue’s new commissioner of police, Tunji Akingbola, says the command will institute a solid security infrastructural base in the state.
Akingbola, who said this during his maiden briefing with newsmen in Makurdi, stated that kinetic and non-kinetic strategies would be applied to deter and stop crimes.
He decried the security challenges prevailing in the state and frowned upon politicians whom he accused of engaging in unwholesome activities.
The police commissioner stressed that he will embark on constructive engagement and community partnerships, public campaigns and advocacy, intelligence recovery of illegal firearms and light weapons as well as respect for human rights.
He added that since his assumption of duty, fifteen suspects have arrested for allegedly stealing railway slippers.
The police, he said, have also arrested twenty robbery suspects and rescued of several kidnapping victims.
