Schoolgirl killed by hit-and-run driver in Ogun

A hit-and-run driver on Thursday killed a female student of Egba Odeda Secondary School in Odeda local government area of the Ogun.

Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesperson, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps ( TRACE), confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta.

Akinbiyi noted that the incident occurred at about 2:45pm around Beni village, Oko Oloshi along Abeokuta-Ibadan expressway.

Akinbiyi explained that some students, who were returning home from school, were about to cross the road, when one of them was hit and killed by the vehicle.

The driver did not wait to help the schoolgirl. He sped off.

Akinbiyi added that the deceased had been deposited at the morgue of General Hospital, Odeda.

He commiserated with the family of the deceased, calling on school pupils to be more vigilant and at alert whenever they were using the road.
