Cultists kill 5 YabaTech students in Lagos

No fewer than five students of the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) Akoka, Lagos State, have been killed in one week in various cult clashes which engulfed the institution.

The gunmen suspected to be cultists reportedly killed one Bello Akerodele Adisa a final year student on Friday.

Vanguard reports that the student was shot dead in front of his faculty, Art Complex at about 8 pm.
The killing of Bello, a student of Art and Design and in HND II, has brought to five, students that have been killed in the College over cult-related clashes in one week.

Some of the students confirmed that Bello is the fifth student that has been killed by cultists. “Cultists have been terrorising the school and two students have been killed inside the school while the remaining were outside the campus.

“I can still remember one of them that died after people rushed him to the hospital”. She also asserted that in the yesterday’s incident, a lady was attacked too but she was lucky to escape but now in the hospital receiving treatment.

According to her, “The same thing happened to my friend last year during our final year exams. He almost lost his life to one cult group like that. The government should just do something about Yabatech because it’s becoming too much.”

Another student of the school, identified only as Kunle, who is a class representative of his department, Quantity Survey, was also shot dead at the school Sports Complex.

Another source said, “According to my research, this cult clash is not new in the school, but I don’t know much because I’m new in the school, I am in ND 1. We that are studying in the school are scared because we are not safe with the way these guys shoot any time they like.”

The authorities of the school have yet to react to the rising spate of cult killings on the campus.
