How Three Buhari Aides Were Punished For Supporting Tinubu

Three key media aides of former President Muhammadu Buhari were dropped from the national honours list for their overt support for the successful presidential aspiration of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Goldmynetv understands that Lauretta Onochie, Bashir Ahmad and Ajele Nguleri were punished by the Buhari cabal after they went out of the line of duty to the former president to advance the presidential bid of Tinubu.

Onochie was Personal Assistant to the President on New Media before she was earlier in the year nominated as the chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC. Bashir Ahmad, also served as special assistant to the president on New Media while Ajuri Ngelale was Senior Special Assistant To President Buhari on Public Affairs.

GoldmyneTV reports that virtually the whole media team of the former president including photographers and reporters from the public broadcasting stations were given the national awards, the trio of Onochie, Ahmad and Ngelale were yanked off at the last minute.

A source speaking on the condition of confidentiality said that they were listed among those to be honoured but at the last minute, their names were removed from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF after a member of the Buhari Cabal got through the office of the SGF.

The trio were specifically accused of unbridled enthusiasm for Tinubu and disobeyed the instruction of the cabal not to work for Tinubu and hence they were punished by being denied the national honours.

Those so honoured were Garba Shehu and Laolu Akande, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity (Office of the Vice President) who were conferred with the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).

The President’s Personal Photographers for the eight years of his administration, Bayo Omoboriowo and Sunday Aghaeze bagged Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) and Member of the Order of the Niger (MON), respectively.

Also listed for the National Honours Award for their diligent services to the nation are Tolu Ogunlesi, the Special Assistant to the President on Digital and New Media, MON; Tolani Alli and Personal Photographer to the Vice President, MFR.

Other beneficiaries of the award are; Adamu Sambo, NTA Correspondent and Emmanuel Anrihi, NTA Cameraman, both bagged MFR.

Femi Adesina had earlier been honoured with OON in 2022.
