House of Reps Presents N18 Million Cheque to Victims of Enugu Tanker Explosion

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has presented a cheque of N18 million to the Enugu State Government in support of victims of the January 25 petrol tanker explosion at Ugwu Onyeama on the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, which claimed several lives.

Abbas, represented by the Enugu State Caucus led by Nnolim Nnaji, described the incident as a tragic loss not just for Enugu State but for the nation as a whole. He emphasized that the donation reflects the House’s commitment to standing by Nigerians during difficult times.

Presenting the cheque, Nnaji commended Governor Peter Mbah’s leadership and swift response in supporting affected families.

“On behalf of the Speaker, we present this N18 million cheque to assist the state in cushioning the losses and challenges caused by the incident. The Speaker sends his heartfelt condolences and assures continued support,” Nnaji stated.

Governor Mbah expressed deep appreciation for the gesture, assuring that the donation would be used transparently to support the victims and their families.

“This cheque will go a long way in easing the burden on those affected. We are grateful for the solidarity shown by the House of Representatives,” Mbah said.
