Youth Group Defends Seyi Tinubu, Warns Against Dragging His Name Into NANS Crisis

A youth advocacy group, The City Boy Movement, has strongly condemned a report accusing Seyi Tinubu of sponsoring thugs to disrupt the inauguration of a faction of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) led by Isa Atiku Abubakar.
In a statement released over the weekend, the group’s Director General, Francis Tosin Shoga, described the allegations as baseless and malicious, asserting that the attempt to link Seyi Tinubu to the NANS leadership tussle was a desperate smear campaign.
“As the Director General of the City Boy Movement, I categorically reject these baseless fabrications designed to tarnish the impeccable character of Barr. Seyi Tinubu,” Shoga said.
He dismissed claims by Atiku, who alleged he was stripped naked and forced to record videos under duress, calling them “melodramatic” and “a theatrical performance” aimed at misleading the public.
The group praised Seyi Tinubu’s consistent dedication to youth empowerment and constructive dialogue, noting that he has never meddled in student union affairs.
The City Boy Movement also warned those behind the accusations to prepare for legal consequences and cautioned Nigerian youths against being used as political tools.
“Atiku’s uncoordinated skit-making activities will not fly, regardless of whoever might be supporting his misguided endeavours,” the group concluded.
