Toke Makinwa: From “Barrenness” to Motherhood – The Journey to her Miracle Baby
For years, media personality Toke Makinwa has expressed her desire to have her own baby. After going through a public divorce from ex-husband “Maje Ayida,” it seemed like the next best thing.
In 2017, she tweeted, “It would be nice to have a daughter, to play dress up and match outfits together.”
This build-up led to the joy, excitement, and controversies that surrounded her pregnancy announcement on 13th August, 2025, and the safe delivery of her daughter, in accordance with her heart desires, on 28th August, 2025.
Whilst many were excited for Toke, some argued that having a baby without a husband should not be encouraged.
These comments did not deter the new mother, as she never stopped posting and thanking God for her newborn while reminiscing on the times she was labelled “barren.”
5th November, 2025, witnessed a robust celebration as Toke Makinwa dedicated her baby “Yakira Eliana” in Logic Church, Lagos, surrounded by many friends and family, filled with love and gratitude.
Right after was the beautifully decorated star-studded reception at Landmark, with big names like Mrs. Shade Okoya, Tiwa Savage, Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham, Enioluwa, Broda Shaggi, and Umar Farouk, amongst many notable guests.
Guests were seen having a good time with the assortment of food, drinks, and music. The host, Toke Makinwa, was not left out, as she was the picture of Joy. Dancing,laughing, and having fun with family and friends.
It was indeed a perfect ending to the media personality’s inspiring pregnancy journey.
