Israel has issued a fresh warning to Iran-aligned figures as tensions in the Middle East continue to rise following recent military exchanges.
Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, said any individual appointed by Tehran to advance actions against Israel, the United States, or regional allies would be considered a legitimate target.
“It does not matter what his name is or where he hides,” Katz stated, adding that Israeli leadership has directed the Israel Defense Forces to intensify operational readiness under an initiative referred to as “Operation Roaring Lion.”
The warning comes after coordinated air and missile strikes reportedly carried out by US and Israeli forces on strategic sites in Iran. Iranian state media and international reports indicated that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, was killed in the initial wave of attacks alongside other senior officials, a development that, if confirmed, marks a major shift in the long-running standoff between both nations.
Iran responded with retaliatory strikes targeting Israeli territory and US military bases in the Gulf, further heightening fears of a wider regional confrontation.
Katz also reiterated Israel’s commitment to working with American partners to counter Iranian influence, maintaining that Israel would continue to act pre-emptively against what it considers imminent threats.
For decades, rivalry between Israel and Iran has shaped the region’s security landscape, fueled by disputes over nuclear development, proxy conflicts, and cyber warfare. The latest escalation signals that tensions remain far from resolved.
