Bishop Kukah laments, says nephew, driver languishing in kidnapper’s den

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Kukah, has cried out that his nephew and driver are still in the den of their abductors three months after they were kidnapped.

The cleric his nephew and the driver were abducted along the dreaded Kaduna-Abuja Road.

According to him, his nephew and his wife were travelling to Abuja for medical care when they were kidnapped. Meanwhile, the kidnappers however did not take his nephew’s wife because of her condition but abducted his nephew and the driver who was taking them to Abuja.

The popular Catholic cleric further revealed that the kidnappers requested a ransom of N50 million but later reduced it to N20 million.

He stressed that so far, he had had to raise over N30 million to secure the release of some priests working under him who were also abducted by terrorists.

Kukah, who disclosed this at the ongoing high-level forum on political communication and issue-based campaign in the 2023 general elections in Abuja, spoke on the need for Nigerians to desist from politics of identity.
