Borno Records Over 300 Deaths in 252 Boko Haram Attacks in Six Months – Ndume

Senator Ali Ndume has revealed that Borno State experienced 252 Boko Haram attacks in the last six months, resulting in the deaths of over 300 people, including more than 100 soldiers. The alarming toll prompted Governor Babagana Zulum and other top officials to meet with Nigeria’s military chiefs in Abuja to seek urgent intervention.

Ndume, who was part of the delegation, said, “From November last year to date, we experienced 252 attacks. Over 100 soldiers and 238 civilians have been killed. The Nigerian Armed Forces have killed over 800 terrorists, while Boko Haram and ISWAP have killed around 500 of themselves.”

He noted that three local governments—Gudumbari, Marte, and Abadam—are still under Boko Haram control. “After 6 p.m., movement is impossible across many areas, even in Southern Borno. Roads like Maiduguri to Biu are now closed or only accessible under military escort.”

Ndume stressed the need for better training, equipment, and motivation for troops, lamenting that the military and police are overstretched. “The total strength of the Army, Navy, and Air Force combined is less than 300,000. That’s why we need more trained, armed, and motivated personnel,” he said.
