A federal high court in Abuja has sacked 20 members of the Cross River state house of assembly.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had instituted a suit against the lawmakers over their defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
A similar fate befell 17 lawmakers in Ebonyi state after they switched from PDP to the APC.
David Umahi was also sacked as Ebonyi governor. So was his deputy.
Rivers Governor and PDP heavyweight Nyesom Wike said he was one of the persons using the courts to reclaim the people’s mandate from defecting politicians. It is unclear if a similar move has been instituted against Cross River Governor Ben Ayade who has also decamped to the APC.
