Court Sentences Late Gospel Singer Osinachi’s Husband to Death by Hanging
Justice Nwosu-Iheme of the FCT High Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, has sentenced Peter Nwachukwu, husband of late gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu, to death by hanging.
The judgment was delivered today, April 28, after the court found Nwachukwu guilty of culpable homicide over Osinachi’s death on April 8, 2022.
The court ruled that the prosecution successfully proved its case beyond reasonable doubt. Nwachukwu, first arraigned on June 3, 2022, faced a 23-count charge, including culpable homicide, spousal battery, and child cruelty.
Seventeen witnesses, including two of Osinachi’s children, testified against him, while 25 documents were tendered in evidence.
In addition to the death sentence on Count 1, Nwachukwu was sentenced to multiple prison terms and fines across other charges, including two years each on several counts, six months on another, three years on one count, and fines of ₦500,000 and ₦200,000 on others.
