Court Strikes Out VeryDarkMan’s Objection in N1bn Falana, Falz Defamation Suit

A Lagos High Court in Ikeja has struck out a preliminary objection raised by social media personality Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, in the N1 billion defamation suit filed against him by human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) and his son, rapper Falz.
Justice Mathias Dawoodu ruled that the matter was already before another court, making further proceedings in his courtroom unnecessary. Although neither party was present at the hearing, the judge dismissed Otse’s objection after noting that the defence’s latest application was not in his court’s file.
The Falanas had sued Otse for allegedly posting a video accusing Femi Falana of demanding N10 million from Bobrisky to obstruct justice. They are seeking N500 million each in damages.
Justice Dawoodu struck out the case, noting that it was inappropriate for his court to proceed while a parallel case on the same matter is pending elsewhere.
