Davido Opens Up on Son’s Striking Resemblance to Late Ifeanyi: “It’s Scary, Like He Came Back”

Afrobeats icon Davido has opened up about the emotional impact of losing his son Ifeanyi Adeleke in 2022 and the uncanny resemblance his newborn son shares with the late child. Speaking during an interview with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1, the singer described the likeness as “scary,” saying it feels like Ifeanyi has returned through his new son.
The music star revealed that the tragedy pushed him into a period of intense grief and reflection. “That type of loss made you just be like, ‘I’m out’. I’m just going to chill, take care of my wife and the family and get my head right,” Davido said, recalling the heartbreak of losing Ifeanyi at just three years old.
Following the loss, Davido and his wife Chioma stepped away from the spotlight and quietly tied the knot. In a remarkable turn of events, they welcomed a set of twins in October 2023—nearly a year after the devastating incident.
Describing the emotional reactions within his family, Davido shared that everyone believes the new baby is a reincarnation of Ifeanyi. “The boy looks just like my son that passed. It is scary. It’s like literally him. We’re like, ‘No, it’s him. He came back,’” he said.
Reflecting on the journey from deep sorrow to renewed joy, Davido concluded: “To come back from that and be blessed with twins out the gate… it just shows God is real.”
The heartfelt revelation has resonated with fans and touched many who admire the singer’s resilience and faith through personal tragedy.
