Former Abia governor, Orji Uzo Kalu, vows to tackle Tinubu over 2023 presidency if…

Following the declaration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to run for president in 2023, Senate chief whip Orji Uzor Kalu says he has the capacity to go head-to-head with the former Lagos governor.

Kalu, a former Abia governor, said that he would be ready to contest the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with Tinubu if the party zones it to the South.

Tinubu had on Monday declared his ambition to take the reins of power from President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking on Tuesday, Kalu said that while he has nothing against the aspiration of Tinubu, he believes that his South-East region is ripe for the presidency.

Kalu also said that he is the right choice if the South-East is called upon to produce the next president.

He added that he has all it takes to match Tinubu grit for grit and pip him to the party’s presidential ticket before the 2023 general election.

Last November, Tinubu visited Kalu in Abuja and told the senator of his presidential ambition.
