Heavy security in Edo over Blackaxe 7/7 anniversary

Security has been beefed up around Benin City and other local government headquarters following planned celebration of the anniversary of Black axe confraternity otherwise known as 7/7.
The deployment of security personnel to black spots and other critical areas across the state was to prevent breakdown of law and order.
Edo Police spokesman, Moses Yamu, said the deployment of security personnel followed intelligence reports received by the Command that certain cult groups were planning to cause mayhem on July 7th.
Yamu said the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, warned hoteliers, lounges and bars owners, and other places that could serve as a harbour for ‘these criminals not to allow any unlawful gathering in their business places or face the wrath of the law.’
“He further appealed to the general public to be security conscious and promptly report any suspicious gatherings or activities around them to the Police through the following phone numbers: 08077773721 or 08037646272”
