The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday filed a lawsuit against former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, at the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos State over his alleged procurement of a “fabricated” medical report.
The controversial minister and member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was marched before Justice O.O Abike-Fadipe by EFCC operatives for possible arraignment around 9am, Punch reports.
He is currently in the court room as of press time.
The anti-corruption agency claimed that Fani-Kayode procured one Dr Ogieva Oziegbe to issue the fake medical report, which he allegedly tendered in before the Federal High Court in his ongoing money laundering trial.
Fani-Kayode was arrested by the EFCC early this month for questioning over alleged forgery.
He was led to a court proceeding at a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Sources close to him stated that he was not arrested but re-invited by the anti-graft agency.
Justice Mohammed Aikawa, however, adjourned the case till January 24, 2022.
It had been reported that Fani-Kayode was earlier brought for questioning over some false documents.
The former minister had been invited to answer questions relating to the forgery of a medical report which he allegedly procured to evade his trial before a Federal High Court in Lagos.
