I joined a changed APC — Fani-Kayode

Former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode says the ‘spirit of God’ led him to return to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He made the comments in Abuja, minutes after news of his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hit the airwaves on Thursday.

Later in the day, Fani-Kayode, who once said he’d rather die than be part of a ‘filthy’ and a ‘rat-infested’, stated more reasons why he changed his mind.

“Joining APC now is the way forward, despite what people may think about it,” Fani-Kayode, who also heavily criticised President Muhammadu Buhari in the past, told Channels TV.

“APC is a liberal party.  A lot has happened in APC over the years. The party has changed and the president has accommodated the change. Had the APC leadership not changed, I wouldn’t have joined them.

“I am doing the right thing base on conviction and understanding. This is the right decision for me. Love me or hate me, it will not take anything away from me.

“I spoke against Buhari from the outside. Now, I know him from the inside. I am not saying he is an angel or a demon. The APC I was talking about at that time is not the same today.

“Let’s focus on unity, peace and togetherness,” he said.
