Ikoyi building collapse: FourScore owner Femi Osibona ‘trapped, female aide recovered dead, fatality toll rises’ — reports

Femi Osibona, the owner of FourScore Heights Limited, the developing company in charge of the building that collapsed in Ikoyi, Lagos, is believed to be trapped in the rubble.

The high-rise, one of a group of three buildings under construction, caved in on Monday afternoon, with over 50 persons reportedly still trapped under the ruins.

On Monday evening, a witness had said Osibona was in the building when it collapsed.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) still has no update on if he had been found. But one of his aides, a female identified as Nifemi, has, according to Sahara Reporters, been recovered dead.

As of Tuesday midnight, there was still no word on if Osibona had been found dead or alive.

His car was parked at the premises on the day of the incident, while calls to his line are no longer reachable,” TheCable reported Wednesday.

“There is every indication he was trapped there. His car was parked at the site. His calls are no longer going,” a source is quoted to have said.

A total of 14 bodies had been recovered as of Tuesday evening, while nine persons have been rescued alive. Some reports say as many as 20 corpses have now been recovered from the ruins. Rescue operations are ongoing at the site.

This morning, Lagos governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu visited the scene and commended the efforts of rescue workers.
