Jandor Dumps PDP Over Betrayal, Keeps Next Political Move Under Wraps
Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, the Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, has announced his resignation from the party. In a press conference held at his Ikeja office in Lagos on Monday, March 3, 2025, Jandor cited internal betrayal, anti-party activities, and a lack of discipline within the party as reasons for his departure.
Addressing the press, Jandor expressed deep disappointment in the party’s leadership at both state and national levels, accusing them of undermining the efforts of dedicated members. He highlighted that some party leaders openly campaigned against him and the PDP’s presidential candidate during the 2023 elections. He recalled that a few days after the election, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadir Obafemi Hamzat, revealed on television that the PDP couldn’t have won the election because most of the leaders of the party worked against us.
Jandor emphasized that despite these betrayals, the party failed to sanction those involved. Instead, some were rewarded with prominent roles, which he described as an insult to loyal members. He stated that he could no longer remain in a party that rewards disloyalty and undermines genuine efforts.
While announcing his resignation, Jandor did not disclose his future political plans. He assured his supporters that he is not stepping away from politics and will consult with stakeholders and well-meaning Nigerians to determine the next course of action that best serves the interests of Lagosians.
Jandor’s departure from the PDP marks a significant shift in Lagos State’s political landscape. As a former member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he had previously defected to the PDP and established the Lagos for Lagos movement. His next political move remains a subject of keen interest among political observers and supporters alike.
