K1’s Daughter Damilola Marshal Steps Into Politics, Targets Lagos Assembly

Damilola Marshal, one of the daughters of Fuji star King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, has stepped into the political spotlight with her decision to run for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The legal practitioner, who currently works with Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism, shared her ambition publicly on Instagram. She is setting her sights on representing Surulere Constituency II, positioning herself as a fresh voice for the district.

Marshal pointed to her legal career, which spans over ten years, as a foundation for her understanding of governance and public service. According to her, this experience has shaped her perspective on justice, policy, and the everyday challenges faced by citizens.

Framing her campaign around youth inclusion, she made it clear that she intends to champion the interests of younger Nigerians if elected. She also called on residents to look beyond sentiment and support candidates who can deliver meaningful development.

Her campaign message, punctuated with the slogan “Youth Lokan!!! Igbega Eko, Ajumose wa ni,” reflects a focus on collective growth and renewed leadership.

If successful, she would replace Mosunmola Rotimi Sangodara, who currently occupies the seat under the All Progressives Congress.

Marshal earned her law degree in Cotonou, Benin Republic, before being called to the Nigerian Bar in 2015. She later advanced her studies with a Master of Laws from the University of Lagos in 2022. Her appointment into the Lagos State government came in May 2024, when she was named SSA on Tourism.
