As Muslims around the world are preparing to witness the last 10 days of the holy month of Ramadan, Kano State Hisbah Board has deployed 15,700 personnel in mosques across the 44 local government areas of the state.
The commander-general of the board, Harun Ibn Sina, told Daily Trust that the development was part of a move to ensure orderliness and more security during the night prayers usually performed during the last 10 days of the holy month.
“Many things are happening these days and this is the first time we are embarking on an initiative like this because of the nature of insecurity and how some unpatriotic elements are disturbing the peace of people in neighbourhoods.
“We all know of cases of phone snatching during these hours, especially to women and children, motorcycles theft and other irresponsible acts. That’s why all Hisbah personnel will be participating in this operation.”
