All branches of Chrisland Schools in Lagos has been shut indefinitely, the state government said in a statement on Monday.
The decision followed the alleged rape of a 10-year-old student during a trip school trip to Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The schoolgirl (name withheld) was raped and filmed by other students, her parents said, adding that Chrisland Schools suspended the girl without informing her parents.
“In the meantime, all Chrisland Schools within Lagos State are hereby closed, pending further investigations,” the state government said on Monday.
The girl’s mother is crying out for justice.
The school management, after public uproar, said the affected girl was suspended for willingly participating in a “truth or dare” game that led to the disastrous outcome.
The Lagos State Government has, meanwhile, warned against the circulation of the rape video, adding that whoever is found culpable would be face the law’s hammer.
This is not the first time Chrisland Schools would get into this kind of mess. In 2016, the management reportedly hired a Senior Advocate of Nigeria to defend a teacher who was accused of raping a two-year-old.
