Meeting Chris Brown Changed My Life — Davido Opens Up on Career-Changing Moment
Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed that his life took a major turn after meeting American R&B singer Chris Brown in 2018. Speaking on the Bagfuel Brigade podcast, the Grammy-nominated singer shared how their unexpected connection sparked a friendship that helped elevate his global profile.
Davido recounted how a close Nigerian friend of Chris Brown first introduced them via FaceTime. During the call, one of Davido’s songs was playing in the background, and to his surprise, he was told the location was Chris Brown’s house. He was even shown a video of the American star dancing to his music.
“I asked where he was and he said he was at Chris Brown’s house. I was like, ‘What? Y’all playing my music?’ And he showed me Chris dancing to my song,” Davido said.
The friend then handed the phone to Brown, allowing the two artists to have their first-ever conversation. A few months later, Davido travelled to the U.S. to meet Brown in person, and a strong bond quickly formed.
“Meeting Chris Brown changed my life. From the first time we met, we just naturally became friends,” he said.
The friendship eventually led to several musical collaborations, including the hit song Blow My Mind, further cementing Davido’s influence on the global music scene.
