NDLEA Arrests Five Alleged Drug Barons in Adamawa After Dramatic Sting Operation

In a dramatic turn of events, the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested five suspected drug barons in Adamawa State on Monday, following a well-coordinated sting operation. The operation took place at a popular social joint called Forest, located opposite the Distance Learning Centre of Modibbo Adama University, along the Yola-Mubi road.

The NDLEA personnel, armed and ready for action, arrived at the scene around 4:18 pm. However, the operation took an unexpected turn when they mistakenly accosted an Arewa PUNCH correspondent with a gun, initially thinking he was a suspect. The confusion was quickly resolved when the NDLEA informant, who had been monitoring the drug kingpins’ activities, discreetly informed the officers of the mix-up, and the correspondent was directed away from the suspects’ area.

The team, which had arrived in a Toyota Hilux packed with officers, then stormed the tent where the suspects were sitting. They raided the individuals and seized hard drugs found in black polythene bags in their possession.

Speaking to Arewa PUNCH, the NDLEA State Commander, Femi Samson, explained that the operation was part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to tackle drug abuse and keep society safe. “I am happy that the operation took place in your presence. You are now the person telling the story,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Operations requested that the journalists delete any pictures taken during the operation, citing concerns for the safety of the officers involved. He insisted, “We don’t allow pictures of our operations that show the faces of our men to appear in public. Please delete it for our safety.”
