A viral WhatsApp message says media giant, Facebook, will shut down its operations for one week.
A screenshot of Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, announcing the said move on Facebook is making the rounds on the popular chat app.
According to the screenshot, Zuckerberg said Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp will go offline by 1 pm on Wednesday so that the company can upgrade its systems. He, according to the screenshot, apologised for the disruption that would cause, adding that the platforms would not work for one week.
Well, we’ve gone through Zuckerberg’s account on social media and there is no post making such an announcement. We have also checked Facebook’s official accounts and found no such statement.
We conclude that the screenshot is fake and should be disregarded.
