NSCDC Boss Detains Officers Over ₦5.2m Extortion of Traveler

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Audi, has ordered the immediate detention of officers accused of extorting ₦5.2 million from a traveler, following a directive from the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
The extortion incident, which went viral on social media, reportedly occurred during a trip from Ado-Ekiti to Akure. In response, Audi described the officers’ actions as unprofessional and a clear breach of the Corps’ ethics and procedures.
The officers have been transferred to the NSCDC headquarters in Abuja for detention, while a disciplinary committee has been set up to investigate the case. Audi promised that any officer found guilty will be sanctioned according to the Public Service Rules.
Reiterating a zero-tolerance stance on corruption, Audi assured the public of transparency and urged citizens to report misconduct without fear of intimidation.
