NYSC remains call to rebuild, reconstruct our threatened nation — Gov Adeleke

The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has described the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC as a call to repair, rebuild and reconstruct a nation threatened by forces of division.

Represented by Teslim Igbalaye, the Secretary to the State Government during the swearing-in and opening ceremony of the 2024 Batch B Stream I Orientation programme, at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Ede on Tuesday, Governor Adeleke said obedience to the clarion call is to contribute your quota to the integration, development and unity of the nation.

Adeleke added that it is a testament to their love and patriotic zeal for Nigeria.

In his words, “I felicitate with you gentlemen Corps Members on your successful call up for the service year. Your obedience to the clarion call to contribute your quota to the integration, development and unity of our nation is a testament to your love and patriotic zeal for our nation, Nigeria. Your call to service is a call to repair, rebuild and reconstruct a nation threatened by forces of division.”

He also reminded the corps members that they played a vital role in nation-building as symbolised by the national pledge and NYSC oath of allegiance.

“The National Pledge and the NYSC Oath of Allegiance symbolise our allegiance to the nation and our dedication to upholding its values and principles. They also represent solemn commitments to the unity, peace and progress of our dear nation. As Corps Members, you play a vital role in nation-building and by taking these pledges, you affirm your dedication to the service of Nigeria. I urge you therefore to take these pledges seriously as you embark on your service year.”

The governor also assured the corps members that their state government remained steadfast in ensuring their security and welfare throughout the service year.

While calling on the corps members to avail themselves of the support systems provided, he assured that measures have been put in place to safeguard their well-being.

Earlier in his address, the Osun NYSC State Coordinator, Agbor Ndoma Obim revealed that a total number of 2582 corps members were deployed to the state for the 2024 Batch B Stream I service year.

Agbor also disclosed that out of the total number, 960 corps members were dislodged from Lagos while the remaining 1622 were originally deployed to the state.

The high point of the event was the swearing-in ceremony presided over by the representative of the Osun State Chief Judge, Justice Ademola Lateef Adegoke
