Peter Obi Urges Tinubu to Suspend France Retreat, Return Home Amid Rising Insecurity

Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has called on President Bola Tinubu to suspend his ongoing retreat in France and return to Nigeria to address the escalating security crisis across the country. Obi made the plea via a statement on his official X account, highlighting the growing number of fatalities from communal clashes, kidnappings, and insurgent activities.
Obi pointed out that over 150 Nigerians have lost their lives in the past two weeks alone, particularly in Plateau and Zamfara states, with other regions like the North East and South East also experiencing violence. He criticized the president for remaining abroad while the country faces severe distress, urging Tinubu to suspend his foreign visit and urgently return to manage the nation’s deteriorating security situation.
The call comes after speculation about Tinubu’s trip to France, which was initially dismissed by the presidency as a working visit, despite claims that the president’s travel was for medical reasons.
