Police Raid Alleged IPOB Terror Camp in Imo, Arrest 3, Recover ₦10.3m

Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have arrested three suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) after raiding a suspected terror hideout on Cameron Street, Ubahu, in Okigwe LGA.

The operation, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday, April 17, 2025, was executed by tactical teams in collaboration with local vigilantes following actionable intelligence. A gun battle reportedly broke out during the raid, with two suspects escaping into the bush while three others were apprehended.

The suspects—Onyekaba Ikenna Innocent (21), Ugwu Ikenna (31), and Ofor Kasarachi (37)—were paraded at the command headquarters in Owerri on Friday.

Spokesperson Henry Okoye revealed that security forces recovered several weapons and materials believed to be linked to terrorism, including an AK-47 rifle, two pump-action guns, 18 live cartridges, several phones and laptops, and ₦10.3 million in cash. He noted that initial investigations suggest the cash was pooled by IPOB members to fund violent activities.

Okoye emphasized that the command, under CP Aboki Danjuma, remains relentless in flushing out criminal elements ahead of the Easter celebrations. He assured residents of increased patrols and surveillance to maintain peace and safety across the state.
