Power outage: Traders lament increasing cost of fuelling generators
Ndigboamaka Progressive Markets Association, in partnership with Haier Global Business, a Chinese firm, has expressed displeasure over the increasing cost of fuelling generators, describing it as unbearable.
Both organisations said many businesses were suffering significant losses due to persistent power interruptions which affect their production rate.
Speaking in Lagos at a dinner/interactive session, themed ”Green Energy, the Best Solution to Incessant Power Outage and Guarantee for Steady Power Supply,” President of Ndigboamaka Progressive Markets Association, Mr Chinedu Ukatu, made case for alternative sources of energy
Ukatu said green energy sources, though cheap and affordable, could also help in combating air pollution and health.
His words: “The lack of efficient and uninterrupted power supply is affecting the production rate of many companies and businesses and has resulted in many households, schools and establishments constantly relying on power generators to provide electricity for their daily activities.
“The cost of running these generator sets is becoming increasingly unbearable due to the high cost of fossil fuels and has also caused many companies and businesses to suffer significant losses.
