Some of my friends, staff members being rescued from ill-fated Ikoyi building — Dele Momodu

Ovation International publisher and Ogun State chief, Aare Dele Momodu, has urged Nigerians to continue to pray for the souls who are still trapped in the rubble of the building that collapsed the Ikoyi, Lagos.

At least 50 persons were reportedly in the building when it caved in on Monday. Reports say 20 persons have been recovered dead from the ruins with nine others rescued alive.

Dele Momodu issued a clarification on Tuesday after the emergence of a video showing his wife, Mobolaji, with Femi Osibona, CEO of FourScore Heights Limited, who was developing the ill-fated building, and others.

Dele Momodu explained that the video was being taken out of context, and revealed that some of his friends and members of staff were still being rescued from the ruins.

“Mobolaji and I have been inundated with calls from families, friends and others asking if we were fine, he said.

“We thank everyone for their concerns but we can’t be exactly fine when we have friends and staff who are still being rescued from the site of the building collapse.

“Please, permit me to make a correction. The Italians in this video were from a furniture company called Formenti and not engineers as being rumoured. They were guests of my wife who represents them and were only invited to see the building project. This video was shot a week earlier.

“Please, keep everyone in your prayers. May the souls of the departed rest in peace,” he said.
