Kogi governor Yahaya Bello has openly expressed anger over the ‘substandard’ project executed by a Chinese contractor currently renovating a hospital in the state.
In a video trending online, Bello confronted the contractor and asked if the job he delivered measured up to the standard of hospitals in China.
“Work done is zero. I am not pleased with what I am seeing here as far as the renovation is concerned,” the governor said with the Chinese contractor visibly embarrassed.
“This has shown that you have no capacity. This is not GYB (Governor Yahaya Bello) standard. I am a man of quality, and everything I do as far as Kogi state is concerned, in terms of projects, depicts quality and standard.
“I can’t imagine that this is where I’m spending money. This job is supposed to have been delivered before now, in the first instance, you have delayed. You have breached that particular part of the contract.
“I am holding you responsible for this, and we are going to take appropriate actions. I give you between now and December this year to go back and do this job properly”.
“I will never allow this to be used to describe me.
“Whoever introduced you to the state, to be given contract, I will equally hold the person responsible because I don’t recommend even a supplier to do any job in this state.
“Is this the quality of hospital in China? If you are sick would you like to be treated here? Would you want to be admitted to this hospital? Do you have this kind of hospital in China? Are we owing you?
“We are not owing you any dime. If you can do this kind of job anywhere in Nigeria, it is not in Kogi state. Even if it is done in the state before, not under my watch,” Bello said.
