Waje Did Her Best With ‘Vibes’ And We Love It [REVIEW]
For doing anything outside the charming, lyrically astounding records Waje is known for, I must congratulate her and commend the power conjured for this project.
Frizzle and Bizzle did a fantastic job with the visual style of this record. The storyline and amazing set pieces have many rewatching this video. I would personally not peg a Waje on this kind of record as the entire 2:12 minutes of the song screamed Yemi Alade, lyrics, vibe, style inclusive.
For the effortless ability to channel the energy of another act on her record, Waje deserves her flowers. Waje’s superpower of birthing creative partnerships with soaring writing and palpable chemistry must be commended.
Also, Falz held my attention all through his set. It was easier finishing the video after his verse as he brought more pep to the song.
‘Vibes,’ in conclusion, is a welcoming new side to Waje, which I think many of us have waited on for years now. I love the song and, yes, Waje did not disappoint even as I struggled to connect with ‘her’ energy all through the song.
