Yul Edochie intervenes to secure release of Chiwetalu Agu from military detention

Nollywood actor Yul Echodie has expressed concern for the wellbeing of industry veteran Chiwetalu Agu.

Agu is being detained by the Nigerian Army who arrested him for allegedly supporting the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), an allegation he contends.

Lawyers and activists have condemned the arrest, describing it as illegal.

“I have gotten in touch with the President of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, to discuss how to secure the release of Uncle Chiwetalu Agu and be sure he’s safe and sound which I feel is the most important thing now,” Edochie said in social media post on Friday.

“He assured me that he’s in contact with the Nigerian Army division holding Uncle Chiwetalu, that Uncle Chiwetalu is safe and okay as well and will be released soon.

“It is well.”
