Tiwa Savage to be made ”Doctor of Music” by Kent University
Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage is set to receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Kent.
Tiwa earned a degree in Business Administration from the University before heading to study Professional Music at the Berklee College of Music, Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A on a scholarship.
The singer is one of the ten individuals being awarded honorary degrees during its congregation ceremonies set to be held at Canterbury and Rochester cathedrals.
The ceremonies will hold at Canterbury from 11-15 July and Rochester on 20 July.
Via the university’s statement, Tiwa “is being made Doctor of Music in recognition of her inspirational and international career in music.” The ceremony is to hold on July 15 in Canterbury.
Another Nigerian on the honorary list is Funke Abimbola, a professor who will also be “made Doctor of Laws for her inspirational career as a senior solicitor and her extensive voluntary work as a mentor and campaigner.” The ceremony is to happen on July 14 in Canterbury.
