Bianca Ojukwu vs Ebelechukwu Obiano: Who actually slapped who?

Multiple media reports, earlier today, claimed that former Anambra first lady, Ebelechukwu Obiano, slapped the widow of the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Bianca Ojukwu.

Several eyewitnesses have, however, debunked the reports.

According to these persons who were at the inauguration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo where the fracas happened, it was Bianca who landed the first slap.

It was not immediately clear if the former first lady landed slaps of her own before security aides broke up the show of shame.

Ebelechukwu, according to reports, walked up to where Bianca was seated and called the woman a ‘bitch’. Bianca then stood up and slapped the former first lady whose wife reportedly fell off in the melee that ensued. Other attendees and security aides then intervened before the matter degenerated further. That is what those at the event said.

According to another account by an AIF Media reporter who was said to be at the event, trouble started when Ebelechukwu, who came late to the occasion, was going round to greet the dignitaries.

On getting to where Bianca sat, Ebelechukwu reportedly said:

“Bianca, so you are here. What are you doing here? I thought you said you will never attend any APGA event again, you bitch.”

A few moments after the fight, former governor Willie Obiano and his wife left the venue. The incident happened after Soludo was sworn in. The new governor has apologised to Anambra people and promised to reconcile the warring parties.

Bianca, who hasn’t been a fan of the Obianos for some time now, described Soludo’s inauguration as “Liberation Day”.

“Now I know just how those Israelites felt on the day they took those tentative first steps out of the land of Egypt,” she wrote in a message on Facebook.

There is age-long rancour between the families of Obiano and Ojukwu, reports say.

In the build-up to the November 2021 governorship elections, the wife of the late Ikemba and ex-governor Willie Obiano were reportedly engaged war of words.

Bianca had accused Obiano of saying her husband was no longer relevant to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), which informed her absence from the party’s campaign inauguration.

Bianca reportedly described APGA as a secret cult, blaming Obiano for its dwindling fortunes.

A war of words also ensued between Bianca and ex-governor Obiano’s wife over the absence of the ex-governor at the Ikemba’s posthumous birthday celebration in 2019, Punch reported.
