Bobrisky under fire for ‘exploiting womanhood’

A barrage of criticisms continue to flow the way of Nigerian cross-dressing celebrity, Bobrisky, after he apparently revealed why he wanted to become a woman.

“When I was a man, I had nothing,” Bobrisky said in a recent interview with Chude Jideonwo.

“But being a woman has paved a lot of ways for me. A lot of women don’t realise the power they have.

“A lot of them don’t know how to use their resources as a woman,” Bobrisky, whose real name is Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, said.

After a video of the interview got online, Nollywood actress Seun Osigbesan rained curses on the cross dresser.

“This man is a disgrace to manhood,” Osigbesan said. “What does he know about being a woman?”

“May the judgement of God come upon you for choosing to be an agent of the devil and misleading innocent lives,” she cursed.

LGBTQ activist Bisi Alimi also had harsh words for Bobrisky whom he described as an ignorant local champion.

“‘I changed to a woman because it opens doors for me’ is never a statement you will hear from a trans woman but your local champion knows no better,” Alimi said in a social media post.

“I wish all women and trans women who endure violence everyday and have to deal with patriarchy bullshit can learn something from a ‘woman for pay when it suits you’ person,” he added in a apparent sarcasm.

“And what happens if being a woman doesn’t pay you anymore? Oh! I’m sure we are not ready for that conversation.”

Despite the criticisms, 30-year-old Bobrisky maintains that he is fighting for the cause of gay people and the rest of the LGBTQ community.
