Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp crash globally — report

Social media platform Facebook is currently down, multiple user reports say.

Users trying to access the website and its app are getting error messages. The issues have also been reported to Down Detector, a website that monitors these kinds of problems.

Facebook-owned Instagram is also experiencing the same problem, and so is WhatsApp with users unable to update status messages or even chat.

The downtime seems to be happening worldwide.

The downtime was caused by a DNS outage, reports say.

“We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible,” FB communications chief Andy Stone tweeted on Monday.

There are also issues with Amazon Web Server (AWS) which provides backbone for millions of online platforms. Amazons shopping platform is also experiencing issues, reports say.

Twitter and Google also reportedly having issues.
