Female hunters declare war on bandits, say ‘we are naturally bullet-proof’

The Nigeria Hunters Council (NHC), the Katsina State Chapter, has volunteered to assist the state government in defeating banditry.

Hajiya Ummah Dauda, their Assistant Commandant General (ACG), made the request on Thursday when she led members on a courtesy visit to the office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa.

“As hunters, we know the forest very well and the truth is we are in a better position to help the government in fighting bandits” she said.

“Besides, our members are well fortified and bullets cannot penetrate us.

“We are trained warriors, and fighters.

“That is why we are appealing to the government to carry us along in their bid to tame the menace of banditry experienced in the state.

“Our workforce in each local government area are more than a hundred. In some LGAs, we have over one hundred hunters and all of them are warriors.

“Some of our members here single-handedly arrested bandits in the past and handed them to security operatives.

“Sir, with the kind permission of the state government, we are ready to hit the forest and fish out these bandits even right now.”

Former Kaduna senator, Shehu Sani, has urged the government to allow the women join the fight.
