GoldMyne EXCLUSIVE: Here’s the LATEST info on Ojodu Grammar School accident [VIDEOS]

The atmosphere in the Ojodu area of Lagos is tense at the moment as residents and security agencies grapple with the reported killing of several students on Tuesday afternoon.

At least 17 students were said to have been crushed to death after a truck driver, who was reportedly being chased by some security officials, lost control near Ojodu Grammar School.

Many of those affected are students of the popular public school, multiple reports say.

Details of the unfolding tragedy remain sketchy as of the time of filing this report. But GoldMyne TV can confirm that at least three affected students, with varying degrees of injuries, were rushed to a nearby hospital.

“Three students were brought to our facility,” Dr Olaide Oyetunde of God’s Apple City Hospital told us. “Two of them are doing better. One is a bit serious but is improving. Some of them had head injuries.”

According to a viral video recorded at the hospital, a student could be heard screaming in pain as someone tried to certain their identity.

Eight other students were reportedly rushed to an undisclosed hospital around 7-Up axis. A yet-to-be-ascertained number of students were also taken to St. Timothy Hospital, the local governing council chairman reportedly said.

On the streets, security operatives were seen firing warning shots in a bid to avoid a breakdown of law and order. The move was greeted by condemnation.

Angry survivors and bystanders allegedly set at least one truck on fire in the wake of the reported tragedy, multiple videos shared online show.

“This is happening right now around Excellence Hotel Ogba,” Amanda Oruh tweeted earlier about the ghastly incident

“This truck allegedly killed 17 students at (Ojodu) Grammar School while they were about to cross (the road).

“The driver fled the scene and was chased by students and others and his truck set ablaze. The students are destroying any truck they see.”

“We will be going from one hospital to another to see if they are among those involved in the accident,” a man said.
