Gunmen kill 10 in fresh attack on Plateau state — report

Some gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed at least ten persons in the Wase Local Government Area of Plateau state.

Wase Local Government, a federal constituency, is being represented by Idris Wase, who is the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

It was gathered that the victims were killed when the bandits attacked Pinau community in the Council Area on Sunday.

The incident, it was gathered, happened shortly after the villagers closed from their local market in the area.

A youth leader in the Community, Nantip Padur who confirmed the killings in Jos on Monday said that several persons also sustained injuries during the attack.

“I can confirm to you that about ten of our people have been killed after some bandits attacked Pinau village and critically injured many others,” the youth leader told Punch.

“The incident happened during the market day on Sunday.

“Before the Sunday attack, the bandits who came into Wase from Zamfara state had attacked Sapiyo town kidnapping a nursing housewife and a prominent politician in Wase.

“From what is happening, it is obvious that our people are now exposed to great security threats and challenges which demand urgent attention.”

The lawmaker representing Wase State Constituency, Yakubu Adamu, when contacted did not respond to several calls put across to his mobile phone.

The State Police Police Command is yet to make a public statement on the incident.
