Reggae Sensation Sugarbana Set To Release EP – A Taste Of Sugar
Afro-reggae sensation Sugarbana announces his return with the release of his new EP titled ‘A Taste Of Sugar.
The forthcoming EP is a follow up to his 2019 EP Artistic Champion Scene 1, and is set to be released on the 11th of June 2021. Sugarbana acquaints us with another side to him with his new EP, as he steps out of his comfort zone and explores more than one genre.
A Taste Of Sugar comprises six tracks produced by extremely talented hands like ; Spiritual Vibes, Cracker Mallo, Badass, Masterpiece and Magic stix. It also features industry heavyweights like TENI and YCEE . All tracks were mixed and mastered by SWAPS except track one and three.
SUGARBANA real name Prince Chibuike Okafor is a multi-talented musician whose music cuts across all genres but is known for his Afrobeat-Reggae fusion, he has been in the industry first as a songwriter then transcended into making music he has notable works, two of which were the official soundtrack for Nigerian blockbuster movies like Nneka(the pretty serpent): Track 8 and rattlesnake: Track 7 working with them.
A Taste Of Sugar opens with ‘Jungle’; an upbeat fusion of reggae and Afro-beat and was produced , mixed and mastered by Cracker Mallo. Jungle takes us on a spiritual journey as Sugarbana opens the mind of his fans , giving them a subtle warning to tread carefully in life.
Track two is titled ‘No fit work’ and was produced by Spiritual Vibes. No fit work explores heartbreak. Here, Sugarbana shows us his soft side as he sings about the heartache that comes with having an unfaithful partner.
Sugarbana switches things up with Track three featuring YCEE. This is titled ‘Sound the Alarm’ , it’s an Afro-beat song that is set to be a club banger . This beauty was produced by Cracker Mallo, mixed and mastered by STG.
Track four connects to the streets, it gives off an energetic vibe and was produced by Spiritual Vibes. One can see this fast becoming a street anthem, his delivery on this track is cocky yet convincing . He titled this ‘Nobody fit’
‘Sweetest Taboo’ is the fifth track , and it features TENI. The title of the song already succinctly explains what the message is, simply put , this track is a love song , one can easily get in their feelings whilst listening to this. Sweetest taboo was produced by Magic stix.
The EP ends on a fantastic note , as track six invokes a lot of emotions, it can be described as ‘conscious music’ and it’s titled ‘Jah protect me’ . Track six was produced by Masterpiece and Badass.
While each song varies in tone, they all circle back to a singular message; Sugarbana is back with a better sound and more diversity. A taste of sugar is both energetic and relaxing , the word that best describes this EP is ‘balance’ .
Sugarbana will be dropping ‘Sound the Alarm’ on the 7th of June , to give his fans a taste of the EP.
