Tragedy in Anambra: Man Kills Mother Over Cassava Sales Dispute

Police in Anambra State have arrested 49-year-old Nnamdi Anyaji for allegedly killing his 68-year-old mother, Dorathy Anyaji, during a quarrel over proceeds from a cassava business. The shocking incident occurred on Friday in Amudo Village, Ekwulobia.
According to police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga, Nnamdi used an axe in the fatal attack after accusing his mother of dishonesty regarding the business earnings. He then attempted to take his own life but was swiftly arrested by officers from the Ekwulobia Divisional Police Station.
The suspect is currently in custody under close monitoring and will be charged after investigations are concluded. Police recovered the axe used in the attack from the scene.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation in Enugu-Ukwu, 12 young men aged 20 to 29 were arrested for possession of illicit drugs during a raid. They have been handed over to the NDLEA for further action.
