Warri bishop blames Super Eagles’ defeat on Buhari’s video call, ‘evil energy’

The Presiding Bishop of Answer’s Assembly in Warri, Delta State, Irabor Wisdom, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s video call with the national football team was uncalled for.

Wisdom made the comment after Tunisia knocked 10-man Nigeria out of the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2021) on Sunday night.

Recall that Buhari had spoken with the Super Eagles players hours before the match began, with many now saying the interaction brought the team ill luck after the game ended 1-0 in favour of the North Africans.

“Nigeria Super Eagles with nine points from the group stage knocked out by Tunisia with only three points,” Wisdom said.

“Nigeria came into the match as the best from their group against a Tunisia side that came as the worst from their own group.

“They were winning until Buhari called them to wish them well.

“Never allow past success gets into your head. Success can still be converted to failure. Never also allow past failure get into your heart. For failure can still be converted to success. In fact, failure is an opportunity to try more intelligently.

“There are people you must not allow into your space if you want your grace to keep working. That video call from Buhari was uncalled for.

“Evil energy is very real. Always avoid the unlucky and the unhappy if you don’t want to become the unsuccessful,” he said.
